Florida A&M Sweeps Alabama A&M and Improves to 14-4 in SWAC Play
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida A&M completed a series sweep over Alabama A&M to improve to 18-17 overall and 14-4 in SWAC play.
GAME 1 | Florida A&M 7, Alabama A&M 6
The Rattlers rallied to score five in the seventh inning and walked it off on junior Amari Brown's two-run home run in the 7-6 win over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs Tuesday.
Sophomore Zoryana Hughes (8-7) got the win for Florida A&M. The left-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.
At the plate, the Rattlers were led by Brown, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and three RBI. Freshman Jamison Townsend furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Freshman Ciara Maple also contributed for Florida A&M, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Maple came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.
The Bulldogs then rallied to score two runs and take a 2-1 lead before the Rattlers got back on the board in the second. Senior S. Smith came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M, which brought the score level at 2-2.
Alabama A&M then broke the tied and took a 6-2 lead before Florida A&M scored five runs in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the win, walking it off

Florida A&M got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Rattlers put six runs on the board and knock off the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 6-4 Tuesday.

The Rattlers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Florida A&M plated two runs off of Alabama A&M pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Brown.
The Bulldogs then rallied to score three runs and take a 3-2 lead before the Rattlers got back on the board in the fourth. Florida A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of senior Kiauna Watson, which brought the Rattlers lead to 5-3.
Florida A&M held Alabama A&M scoreless before building their lead to 6-3 in the sixth inning. The Rattlers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Brown. Alabama A&M put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Florida A&M still held on for the 6-4 win.
