FAMU Crushes PVAMU in Series Opener
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --Senior Caleb Granger was dealing on Friday, hurling a two-hit shutout to lead the Florida A&M Rattlers over the Prairie View A&M Panthers 10-0.
Granger (3-0) went the distance for Florida A&M (12-12,), giving up two hits, walking one and striking out seven.
At the plate, the Rattlers were led by junior Justen Crews, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a double, a home run and four RBI. Freshman Broedy Poppell put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Freshman Jay Campbell also chipped in for Florida A&M, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a triple and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlers took the lead for good in the third, scoring for the first time in the inning.
The Rattlers then tacked on runs in the fourth and seventh innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored five times. That five-run inning included two Florida A&M home runs.
