Florida A&M Completes Series Sweep over MVSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida A&M completed the series sweep over Mississippi Valley State with a pair of wins on Saturday.  

GAME 1 | Florida A&M 12, Mississippi Valley State 0

Amari Brown was dealing on Saturday, throwing a one-hit shutout to lead the Florida A&M Rattlerettes over the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes 12-0.

Brown (3-5) went the distance for Florida A&M (12-16,), giving up one hit, walking none and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlerettes took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Brown's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Florida A&M.

The Rattlerettes then tacked on runs in the third and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored seven times. That seven-run inning included two Florida A&M home runs.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Sophomore Zoryana Hughes and senior Samantha Smith combined to toss a shutout on Saturday as the Florida A&M Rattlerettes blanked Mississippi Valley State 7-0.

Hughes started in the circle for Florida A&M (13-16,), going two shutout innings while giving up two hits, walking none, and striking out three. Smith (7-6) picked up the win out of the bullpen and went five shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rattlerettes took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Freshman Ciera Maple came across to score the lone run of the inning for Florida A&M and get them on the board.

The Rattlerettes then tacked on runs in the second and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored three times.
