FAMU Board of Trustees to Meet for Finalist Deliberations on May 16

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After meeting with the four finalists during campus interviews, the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Board of Trustees will deliberate on Friday, May 16, and vote on a candidate to advance as the 13th president.

 “We’ve had an engaging and inspiring week as we welcomed four finalists vying to become the thirteenth president of Florida A&M University. Their passion, vision, and commitment to advancing FAMU’s legacy of excellence energized our entire community,” said FAMU Board Chair Kristin Harper. “I’m deeply grateful to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community stakeholders for their enthusiastic engagement and meaningful conversations with each candidate. Thanks to this collaborative spirit, I’m confident we are well-positioned to select a dynamic, visionary leader to guide FAMU into its next great chapter.”

The Board of Trustees will select a final qualified candidate under the position criteria and recommend the president-elect for confirmation by the Florida Board of Governors, a 17-member body with oversight of Florida’s public university system.

The candidates interviewed included:

  • Rondall Allen, Pharm.D. – Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Maryland Eastern Shore
  • Gerald Hector, CPA – Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance at the University of Central Florida
  • Marva Johnson, J.D.. – Group Vice President, State Government Affairs, Charter Communications
  • Donald Palm, Ph.D. – Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Florida A&M University.
