FAMU Women’s Tennis Shines with Grit and Growth at SWAC Fall Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.  -- Florida A&M University's women's tennis team delivered a spirited showing at the 2025 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Fall Tournament, showcasing determination, talent and depth that signal a promising spring season ahead.

Despite a competitive field stacked with top-seeded programs, the Lady Rattlers battled through multiple tough match-ups on the Bulldog Tennis Courts. FAMU's rising stars proved they could hang with the best, with sophomore Alyynah Thomas and freshman Gabrielle Pierce leading the charge in doubles play. The duo advanced to the semifinal round after defeating Alcorn State's Amelia Tatafu and Oihane V. Lopez 8–5 in the quarterfinals, before falling to eventual finalists from Alabama State 8–2.

In singles competition, Victoria Linkovski of Jackson State ultimately captured the title, but the Lady Rattlers made their presence felt. Senior Sydney Brantley and freshman Luiza Eidelvein each delivered competitive performances in their opening rounds, while Thomas added to FAMU's highlights by taking several close games off Jackson State's eventual semifinalist Paula Corbalan.
