Rob Lewis and Sebastian Aguilar Join FAMU Men's Basketball Staff

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M head men's basketball coach Charlie Ward has announced the additions of Rob Lewis as Assistant Coach and Sebastian Aguilar as the Director of Basketball Operations.

These appointments mark another significant step in the program's ongoing efforts to strengthen its coaching staff and build upon recent successes.

Ward is pleased to add Lewis to the staff.

"We are excited to welcome Rob Lewis to our coaching staff," said Ward. "Rob brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of the game, and a passion for developing players both on and off the court. His leadership and energy will be a tremendous asset to our program."

Ward is elated to welcome Aguilar.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sabastian Aguilar as our new Director of Basketball Operations," said Ward. "Sabastian brings exceptional organizational skills, a strong basketball IQ, and a dedication to excellence that will be vital to our program's daily operations and long-term success. We look forward to the energy and insight he will bring to our team."

Lewis most recently served on staff at East Carolina as the Director of Player Development Coach for the 2024-25 season. He played a key role in the development of the ECU team and helped the Pirates accomplish winning the most regular season games in DI program history (19). ECU had the most conference wins in a season since 1974-1975, the most conference wins since ECU joined the AAC (10), and the first winning season for ECU (19-14) since 2012-13.

Prior to ECU, Lewis was the graduate assistant on Leonard Hamilton's staff at Florida State from 2022-24. He played a key role in the development of All-ACC player Jamir Watkins, who went on to be drafted in the 2025 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards.

Aguilar comes to FAMU from FSU and served as a graduate assistant from 2023-25. He assisted in travel logistics, coordinated and supported the Leonard Hamiliton Basketball Camp. Aguilar created and analyzed advanced statistics to provide insights that influenced practice plans and player rotations.

Prior to FSU, Aguilar was a student manager at Saint John's from 2021-23. He supported player development activities, assisted with travel logistics, and itineraries.

Aguilar has worked with several NBA players, including Julian Champaigne, Jamir Watkins, and David Jones.
