FAMU Athletics Names Dennis Driscoll Senior Associate Athletic Director for Brand Advancement

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida A&M University (FAMU) Athletics adds Dennis Driscoll as its new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Brand Advancement. In this key role, Driscoll leads the Rattlers’ in public relations, media relations, social media, brand management, and strategic communications initiatives across the department.

He joins us at a pivotal time as we expand the reach and impact of FAMU Athletics,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Angela Suggs. “His extensive experience will be key in driving our brand forward and ensuring our story resonates across the collegiate athletics landscape further strengthening the Rattler legacy.”   

Driscoll brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in intercollegiate athletics, with a thorough background in brand building, digital media, fan engagement, and external communications. 

Prior to joining FAMU, Driscoll served as the associate athletic director for social media and creative content at Alabama State University, where he served as a senior staff member. He led a robust social media campaign that increased engagement by 125% and served as executive producer for the Hornet Sports Network, driving new revenue through game broadcasts. Driscoll also crafted innovative season ticket strategies that helped set a single-game attendance record at ASU Stadium.

FAMU is a premier institution with a tradition in competitive excellence in intercollegiate athletics. I want to build upon the past successes of the athletic department,” Driscoll said.  

A native of Colorado, Driscoll previously served as associate athletic director for strategic communications at the University of Northern Colorado. There, he was instrumental in rebuilding the department’s communications and marketing operations, increased social media engagement by 145%, introduced the #BearWitness campaign, and represented the athletic department as its spokesperson. 

Driscoll’s deep experience in HBCU athletics includes a successful four-year tenure at Jackson State University, where he served as associate athletic director for sports media. Among his many accomplishments at JSU, he led the media rollout for Head Football Coach Deion Sanders’ hiring, established JSU as the first HBCU to partner with Opendorse for NIL, generated over $40,000 in live-streaming revenue, and created the viral “Snacks” campaign, which earned the university its first ESPY Award. 

Driscoll has also held key leadership roles at Stephen F. Austin State University, University of the Southwest, Marian University, New Mexico State University, and McMurry University. His expertise spans public relations, fan engagement, revenue generation, and strategic planning across NCAA divisions. 

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism from Wayne State College (Nebraska) and holds a master’s in sport management from Indiana State University. 

Driscoll now resides in Tallahassee and looks forward to immersing himself in the Rattler community alongside his girlfriend Brandi, who will be relocating later this year.
