Trio Named to All-SWAC Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Florida A&M Rattlers were named to the 2025 All-Southwestern Athletic Conference Team, the league office announced Tuesday evening. The all-conference team was voted by SWAC head coaches and sports information directors.

Broedy Poppell was named All-SWAC First Team as a catcher and Jay Campbell earned All-SWAC First Team honors at 3rd base. Pitcher Garrett Workman was named SWAC Freshman of the Year.

Poppell had a standout season for the Rattlers. A Tallahassee native, Poppell batted .332 and finished with a team high 49 RBI and added 11 home runs, which tied for first on the team. The junior drew 40 walks and sported a 1.066 OPS percentage. Behind the plate, Poppell added a .975 fielding percentage, and threw out 14 base runners.

Campbell was a fixture for the Rattlers. The freshman and Tallahassee native batted .312 with 36 RBI and 12 doubles. Campbell also finished with a .923 OPS percentage and stole eight bases. Campbell finished with a .811 fielding percentage

Workman had a great freshman campaign for the Rattlers. The Tallahassee native led the Rattlers with an 8-3 record and 3.92 ERA. Workman threw 80.1 innings and struck out 67 batters.
