Florida A&M Falls Short in SWAC Championship

GULFPORT, Miss. -- Despite picking up five hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Jackson State, Florida A&M was unable to push across more runs, as the Rattlers lost to the Tigers 3-1 Sunday.

Junior Amari Brown (9-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Florida A&M (28-20). The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out two.

At the plate, the Rattlers were led by Brown, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a double and an RBI. Senior Brianna Duggins put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rattlers got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Florida A&M got on the board thanks to Brown's RBI double with two outs. The Rattlers were unable to hold the lead, as Jackson State scored three times over the remaining six innings to grab the 3-1 win.
